DYLAN LLOYDDylan LloydBorn Gravesend, Kent, 1972. Studied at Maidstone College of Art before completing a BA (hons) Fine Art at Falmouth School of Art in 1994. Lived and worked in Monmouth, Wales before moving to Dorset as Director of Art at Canford School in 2000. For a period of 10 years after leaving Falmouth School of Art my work was process based. Abstract paintings were created using household paints in repetitive layers. It was my move to Dorset in 2000 that had a large impact on my practice. I worked for a year responding to the rich and historical subject matter of the Arboretum and parkland in Canford Magna before focusing on a small area of my garden. This current series of paintings started in 2006. The paintings chart annual events and cycles, from plants in the garden through to birthday cakes. The exaggerated photographic surface of the paintings draws attention to the paintings function as documentation and memory. |
