SUSAN BOWERI was born in Yorkshire in 1953 and educated in the sciences at school and University, but after the birth of my fourth child I retired to my life-long love of painting. At first I was taught by Yorkshire artist William Selby, he taught me to paint ‘what I feel and not just what I see’. Over the years I have depicted the figure in tableaux of life based on my own experiences. I have exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy summer exhibition and I was made a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1992 and a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1998. My work can be found in collections in America, notably the Anthony Petullo collection in Milwaukee and also in the Bridgeman Art Library. |
