DAVID SAWYER, RBADavid was born in London in 1961. Since graduating from Canterbury College of Art in the early 1980's David has worked continually as a fine artist including a brief period as a scene painter.David has been given a solo exhibition annually for the last decade and is regularly shown in the institutions' open exhibitions at the Mall Galleries. He has exhibited with the New English Art Club, The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and the Chelsea Art Society where he won the Katherine William-Powlett Watercolour prize in 1997. He writes regularly for the national art press and his articles on painting technique are well known amongst his peers. David works in the great tradition of British landscape painters with a style that evokes the confident brush strokes of Edward Seago and the Norwich School's immediate response to nature. In the last year David has travelled extensively, revisiting the familiar landmarks of Venice and exploring new territory in the rich gothic stones of Prague. |
